Green Screen VFX

Creating a green screen composite starts by filming a subject in front of an evenly lit, bright green (or blue) background. Our 240 sq. ft. green screen is made from a fabric called Lastolite, a finely knitted material that does not crease and is far superior to paper or paint. It is also reversible in case we need blue. The captured footage is then taken into our compositing software where we replace the green with another image, CGI or video footage known as the background plate. Using this technique we can place you anywhere. A common application for us is to place the filmed subject in a branded 3D virtual studio for corporate videos. Another is for TV commercial production where we want to have the filmed subject interact with things that would otherwise be impossible to film. A good example of this is the Just Ask Baby webisodes viewable in our portfolio, where we concepted and created the 60 webisodes that contained two 3D environments, a 'talk show' set and a 'child's bedroom' set. Using green screen allowed us to have a nine-month old baby boy named Joey appear to host an educational talk show about...babies! We shot all of the live action in our green screen studio; a total of 360 minutes of finished material. When done right, the illusion is very effective. The biggest challenge when setting up a blue screen or green screen is even lighting and the avoidance of shadow, because it is best to have as narrow a color range as possible that has to be replaced. Glasses also create a challenge when trying to pull a good key; they should be avoided if at all possible.. Effective video production services requires versatility on all fronts. One video shoot may require everything to be done on-location followed by animation and film visual effects. Others may require an in-studio shoot against a green screen so that there is more control over what is in the background. Either way, there needs to be a strong commitment to the style and ultimate goal of the project. At Go 2 Productions, we consider green screen compositing to be a big part of what we offer our clients and we do it well. To shoot effectively in front of a green screen is one thing; to be able to create a strong and successful illusion in the background is quite another. This is truly an art form that should only be handled exclusively by experts. Our expert team has - time and time again -created amazing, professional, and pristine green screen composites that only bolster a video project.
